"Wavin' Flag" nominated for Song of the Year for CRMA's!

The Artists for Haiti recording of "Wavin' Flag" was nominated for Song of the Year for the Canadian Radio Music Awards! The other nominees for Song of the Year include "Ghost" by Fefe Dobson, "Haven't Met You Yet" by Michael Buble, "Perfect" by Hedley, "This Afternoon" by Nickelback, and "Your Man" by Down with Webster. A lot of good contenders there but I think we all know…See More

"Wavin' Flag" featured in movie trailer!

I was watching a trailer for a new movie called "Born to Be Wild" and when I heard "Wavin' Flag" in the background I got the chills! It's the perfect placement for the song. The movie, which comes out in April, looks so amazing. It's about orphaned animals and the people that dedicate their lives to help them survive. The animals are so adorable and YES that is Morgan Freeman on the narration! Watch the trailer here:…See More

Interview with the Star-Telegram!

The Star-Telegram, a Texas-based publication, interviewed K'naan about the pressures of representing Somalia in his lyrics. K'naan talks about how it has been difficult to resist the ease of rapping about less heavy and political things like most other artists in the game. He explains how he feels responsible for shedding light on his people for their sake, but mostly for his own. He shares the guilt he feels for surviving what a lot of other loved ones didn't. It's a great interview that…See More

K'NAAN featured in Fast Company Magazine!

I picked up the November issue of Fast Company today and was so excited to see that K'naan had a 10 PAGE SPREAD! The article is so well-written and tells his whole story from when he was a young boy in war-torn Somalia to today. I had never heard such specific accounts of the horrors he faced as a kid until I read this article and it makes me admire him even more for fighting through his tough past to get to where he is today. The article is also very interesting in that it tells both sides of…See More
